Organic lawn treatments can reduce cancer risk in pets

I recently accepted the position of Cleveland Pet Products Examiner at Examiner.com. Examiner.com serves 60 major markets across the country and is quickly becoming the premier online brand for local information and events.

While my articles there will be locally focused for the most part, I did want to share this particular article with all of you.

I recently resided at a very nice apartment/condo complex that had beautiful landscaping. Once a week, when I walked my dog, I would see stakes in the grass warning that it had been treated. I didn’t think much about it, and if the grass appeared dry I let my dog walk on it, thinking that it was only dangerous when wet. I probably even walked in the grass myself, thinking getting it on my shoes would be no problem. I now know better.

I contacted an organic lawn care company to discuss pet safety, and the president was kind enough to forward information to me that summarized studies printed in health and veterinary medicine journals. Read what I found out in my article.

Great information Leigh. This is helpful during the summer season, more people should know about this.

    • Thanks Jaime. No joke, I got an email from my landlord this morning saying “We have to treat the dandelions. I hate to use chemicals because I know you have pets. Let me know if you have any concerns.” I sent her a link to the article and said “funny timing…” She replied that she will look into the organic options and get back to me. Fingers crossed.
